INDUSTRY One hosted its first-ever event on November 4th, 2022 featuring Ghetto Gastro: a culinary collective that uses food as a platform to spark conversation about larger issues surrounding inclusion, race, access, and how food—and knowing how to cook—provides freedom and power.
Ghetto Gastro strives to reframe the idea of “ghetto” and aims to reclaim all that is good in the Black community, centering food as a means of both nourishment and advancement.
The purpose of this event was to commemorate the launch of Ghetto Gastro’s book Black Power Kitchen: a cookbook that unapologetically celebrates Black culture written by Pierre Serano, Lester Walker, Jon Gray, and Osavi Endolyn.
